Since its establishment in 1993, the Rotterdam Design Prize has provided an overview of important developments in Dutch design. This year the ‘king of Dutch design prizes’ is being organised for the eleventh time.

The Rotterdam Design Prize stimulates debate about design in relation to cultural and social developments. Previous winners include big names such as Studio Dumbar, Hella Jongerius and Thonik. The nominated works will be exhibited at Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. This year the candidates will be nominated by five scouts. There is a cash prize of 15,000 euros plus the Premsela Public Prize.

Who is eligible for these prizes? Which designers, clients or design entrepreneurs have made a special contribution to the development of Dutch design over the past two years? Which designs have sharpened the professional debate? Which has been so authentic and inspiring that it is also of international significance? The five scouts, all active in the design field, will each nominate three designers / projects on the basis of these criteria.
